Lavan Press Release

June 23, 2009

Big City Swagger

After some ruthless criminals ran sacked Lavan head quarters at the end of 08 and countless production errors, the fresh Lavan produce has finally arrived. This year’s line sees some fresh new designs as well as a few popular carry over designs from last year. We’ve also introduced the use of water based inks on a lot of our designs this year, which helps keep mother Earth happy.

Lavan Apparel is a clothing company that focuses on mountain biking but make designs that everyone will enjoy.  Lavan is more than looking good and getting rad. We design and produce our products locally with a conscious effort to use printing practises that are less damaging to our environment such as the water based inks. We also give back to an organization or charity each year, this year’s being Athletes for Africa (for more info check out our website.)  Lavan has supported some fairly hot names in the bicycle world such as: Casey Groves, Eric Lawrenuk, Luke Fulton and Brendan Howey; as well as being a proud sponsor of the Goatstyle Bike Competition since day one.

The 09 team consists of all returning family members – Andrew Sherry, Dustin Greenall, Dylan Dunkerton, Stevie Smith and Travis Bilton – and one that is still to be determined.  A B-team has recently been launched and so far features Anthony Evans and Colton King.

Center of Gravity and Volleyfest

July 22, 2008

Center of Gravity Volleyfest
The 2008 Center of Gravity will be held in Kelowna, BC on Aug 2nd – 3rd. It will be a festival style event that will showcase some of the world’s top freestyle mountain bikers and beach volleyball athletes. The agenda is packed with attractions for all ages including DJs, a Concert, Beer Gardens, Fashion Shows, the Flow Show, the Kids Zone, and an Exhibitors’ Village.

The two feature attractions are “Volleyfest”, which had its successful inauguration in 2007, and “Flirt’n with Dirt”. The event will provide great exposure to our top Canadian athletes and some local super stars in a fun interactive atmosphere that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages. Beach volleyball has been the number one watched sport over the past 3 Olympic Games and we’re bringing it into the Okanagan with 24 men’s and women’s pairings battling it out in two world class double elimination tournaments. Flirt’n with Dirt will be hosting 10 of the world’s most extreme riders in the fastest growing adrenaline sport out there. They will be competing in a variety of competitions (i.e. Big Air, Best Trick, and Best Line) on a course built to entertain. You can find more info at centerofgravity.ca
